Meet Cathy

Cathy Charpentier brings a unique combination of clinical expertise and classical Pilates training to every session at Pilates Plus.

She earned her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from The College of St. Scholastica in 1999 and spent years working in outpatient orthopedics. Her background in rehabilitation, movement, and manual therapy continues to shape her approach to teaching today.

After the birth of her third child, Cathy began looking for a more flexible path that still allowed her to focus on the aspects of physical therapy she enjoyed most — movement, alignment, and exercise-based care. Pilates became a natural fit.

Cathy has now been teaching Pilates for over 20 years and continues to take continuing education programs that are classically based. She is also a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT).

Her approach blends the classical Pilates method with a deep understanding of the body, helping students improve strength, movement, and overall function in a thoughtful and supportive way.

Outside of the studio, Cathy enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as playing tennis and golf.

Kari Anseth

Kari was first introduced to Pilates and Pilates Plus in 2021. She graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1996 with a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy and worked for a few years before taking time from PT to raise her 3 daughters Pilates has given her a new passion, one which compliments and enhances her physical therapy profession. Pilates has challenged her own body, not only with core strength but with balance, stability and flexibility.

It is exercise for any age and anybody, wanting to improve their overall physical health. Starting as a client, transitioning to instructor training in 2022 and now a board certified Pilates instructor, Kari is combining her love of fitness with rehabilitation and the realization of how our own mind and self awareness plays an essential role in total body health.

Beyond Pilates, Kari likes to spend time with her husband and daughters. She enjoys golf, watching sports, being outdoors, and traveling.

Astrid DeWitt

A health enthusiast from an early age, Astrid participated in year-round recreational and athletic activities including basketball, biking, boogie boarding, camping, dance, hiking, and horseback riding. Today, Pilates is a focal point!

Astrid has prepared and qualified to be an instructor with 8 years of personal practice and 1000 hours of comprehensive teacher training, with specific interest in osteopenia and osteoporosis. Conscientious of her genetic predisposition for these conditions, she requested a baseline DEXA Scan in her 30s and was directed to weight bearing Pilates as an exercise modality for maintaining bone density.

Beginning at a local fitness club, then segueing to a private studio, she’s participated in small group and individual Pilates sessions since 2015. Advancement through the repertoire and encouragement from a trusted mentor motivated her to select Dr. Brent Anderson’s Polestar Pilates Method as it applies evidence based physical therapy/rehabilitative practices to its philosophy.

Astrid enjoys the company of her family and close friends, being a mother and homemaker, performing volunteer work, visiting the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, sampling various restaurants in the area, watching Hallmark movies, biking, and walking. She is eager to further her understanding of human movement and its impact on health and well-being as a teacher and student. Fun fact – Trapeze Table Hanging Pull Ups with Extension is a favorite Pilates move!

Brenda Wood

Brenda started her Pilates journey back in 2007 and at the time, she had no idea that Pilates would end up being so much more than just exercise. She loved that Pilates continually challenged her both physically and mentally and in 2014 she made the decision to become a Pilates Teacher herself.

In 2015 she finished the comprehensive Pilates training program at Studio L2 Pilates Training Center and passed the PMA exam to become a Certified Pilates Trainer. Since then, she has taught Pilates group classes and private lessons along with Barre and TRX classes.

As a Pilates Instructor, she truly believes that Pilates can benefit everyone and loves helping others challenge themselves in ways they never expected. Her goal is to help every student feel their best physically and mentally when they walk out of the studio so they can live life to the fullest every day.

When she is not teaching Pilates Brenda enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and has recently discovered how much fun pickleball is so you can find her on the court every chance she gets. She is also an Independent Consultant with Scout & Cellar wines and enjoys sharing and teaching people about the benefits of Clean-Crafted Wine.
